Comments:

We are awaiting test results on five patients who are resting comfortably here in isolation.  As previously mentioned, if our direct care staff observes symptoms in a resident or patient, we will notify the family and their primary care physician, and take measures according to the Medical Director or patient physician directive.  Should testing be ordered, we will swab our residents and staff on-site. Test result turnaround times have been improving marginally.

Today, we have not discharged any new Village Memory Care residents or Care Center patients to the hospital due to observation of COVID-19 symptoms.

We continue to take preventive measures including screening staff prior to each shift, sending any employee home to await test results if they show symptoms of illness, and mandating the use of Personal Protective Equipment by all Village, Care Center, Inn and Home Care staff, while at work.

Please continue to reach out to your nursing supervisor for specific medical details on your family member, and any non-clinical issues to me. We will continue to provide daily written communications during this pandemic.  Aggregate data can be found at: waveny.org/daily-statistics

Our leadership team continues to remain in close daily contact with local hospitals, clinicians and other key stakeholders, to collaborate on safety measures and best outcomes. We deeply appreciate the tremendous cooperation being displayed by all parties to keep the health and safety of our Residents, Patients and Caregivers, as well as the general public, our collective top priority.

We also want to acknowledge the ongoing support and engagement of our families in support of their loved ones. Please keep each other in your thoughts and prayers. We are all in this together. Thank you for your continued patience, support and feedback.  Our entire community is most grateful.
