Waveny LifeCare Network COVID-19 Daily Update

for Residents, Patients, and Families

We would like to acknowledge the community’s ongoing support, cooperation and prayers for everyone at Waveny, and our combined efforts to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

We continue to take preventive measures including screening staff prior to each shift, sending any employee home to await test results if they show symptoms of illness, and mandating the use of Personal Protective Equipment by all Village, Care Center, Inn and Home Care staff, while at work.

Below is Today’s Daily Update, which reflects only the changes from yesterday’s information as it relates to the COVID-19 virus and Waveny’s patients, residents, and caregiver status.

Comments:

We received five positive test results on Care Center patients, who continue to rest comfortably here in isolation.  Two positive test results came from the hospital while the patients were there for testing and observation and three test results came after testing the patients here. A Village resident who was previously presumed positive received a negative test result.

Sadly, one of our Village residents passed away late yesterday evening due to COVID-related reasons. Our prayers and condolences are with her family in this most challenging time.

As previously mentioned, if our direct care staff observes symptoms in a resident or patient, we will notify the family and their primary care physician, and take measures according to the Medical Director or patient’s physician’s directive.  Should testing be ordered, we will swab our residents and staff on-site.   Test result turnaround times have been improving marginally.

Your nursing supervisor will have specific medical details on your family member. Please continue to reach out to them on clinical issues and to me on non-clinical issues. We will continue to provide daily written communications during this pandemic.  Aggregate data can be found at: waveny.org/daily-statistics

As our leadership team continues to remain in close daily contact with local hospitals, clinicians and other key stakeholders, we will work to ensure maximum safety measures and best outcomes. In these challenging times we greatly appreciate the tremendous cooperation being displayed by all parties to protect the health and safety of our Residents, Patients and Caregivers.

Please continue to keep each other in your thoughts and prayers, and know we are working as diligently as possible to earn your continued patience, support and feedback.  Our entire community is most grateful.
