Waveny LifeCare Network COVID-19 Daily Update
for Residents, Patients, and Families

In light of the developments regarding COVID-19, our thoughts are foremost with those in our community that are among the most affected by the virus - our families of residents and patients. We will continue to diligently serve our seniors, and are reminded of your continued encouragement and engagement.

We greatly appreciate being part of a community that supports each other and is deeply committed as we are to the maximum care and safety of our patients and residents. It is the power of this community – the many individuals, organizations and thoughtful partners – that will propel us through this to better times and return our community to more normalcy.

We continue to closely monitor the well-being of our patients and residents, and are particularly dedicated to supporting the needs of those undergoing recovery, as well as our many advanced-age patients with co-morbidities who are often particularly vulnerable to the virus’ impact.

Sadly, we received word that a Village Memory Care resident, who had tested positive for COVID-19, passed away at the hospital late last night. This reminds us of the many sacrifices each family makes to support their loved ones, and our prayers, thoughts and deepest condolences remain with them.

Below is Today’s Daily Update, which reflects only the changes from yesterday’s information as it relates to the COVID-19 virus and Waveny’s patients, residents, and caregiver status.

Comments:

We will continue to provide you with as much transparency and qualified information as possible. We are inspired each and every day to serve our community and dedicate ourselves to the care and support of each Waveny patient and resident.

While there have been no changes related to our indirect or direct-care employees health status, we continue to welcome back employees who are now cleared to return to work, after previously testing positive for COVID-19.  As mentioned, we all are subject to daily screening and preventive measures, including screening staff prior to each shift, sending any employee home to await test results if they show symptoms of illness, and mandating the use of Personal Protective Equipment by all at the Village, Care Center, Inn and Home Care staff while at work.

Your nursing supervisor will have specific medical details on your family member. Please continue to reach out to them on clinical issues and to me on non-clinical issues. We will continue to provide consistent written communications during this pandemic.  Aggregate data can be found at: waveny.org/daily-statistics

Our leadership team is unwavering in our commitment to collaborate closely with local hospitals, public health authorities, clinicians and other key stakeholders, and continue enforce practicing of maximum safety and preventive measures. We are inspired by the great spirit of cooperation being displayed by all parties in our community and are redoubling our efforts to protect the well-being of our Residents, Patients and Caregivers.

Please continue to keep each other in your thoughts and prayers, and know that every day, we are working as diligently as possible to earn your continued patience and support. Your feedback has been constructive and is greatly appreciated. Our entire community is most grateful.
