Waveny LifeCare Network COVID-19 Daily Update
for Residents, Patients, and Families

As we head into a new week, we continue to be vigilant in supporting the dynamic needs of our patients and residents, both in good health and recovery - as well as their families. Thank you for your ongoing support and responsiveness.

We are closely monitoring the evolving impact of COVID-19 on our organization, implementing ongoing best practices to protect the health and well being of those in our care, and dedicated to maintaining the highest level of communication and service.

Included in those best practices is a COVID-19 testing and re-testing protocol to ensure we have the most current health status on our patients and residents possible. Known as a nasopharyngeal swab, after the procedure it is sent to a lab for testing. Testing cycle times can take on average from 24 to 48 hours.

The Village
Five Village residents who are now asymptomatic were re-swabbed today. We are awaiting their test results.

Care Center
We are re-swabbing one patient, and initiated three new swab tests today.  Another patient previously sent to the hospital for an unrelated impairment has tested positive for COVID-19 and is resting comfortably there.

The Inn
The Inn continues to have no positive cases of COVID-19.

Waveny Home Care
No changes to report for our Waveny Home Care division. They continue to provide support to our community residents in their homes in a safe, preventive manner including their use of PPE.

Equally critical is ensuring we have the best trained, most capable and prepared staff to support each of our residents’ and patients’ needs. We welcome back an additional two employees (a total of four altogether) who are now cleared to return to work after previously testing positive for COVID-19.

As mentioned, they, like all employees are subject to ongoing daily screening and preventive measures, including screening staff prior to each shift, sending any employee home to await test results if they show symptoms of illness. The use of Personal Protective Equipment by all at the Village, Care Center, Inn and Home Care staff continues to be mandatory while at work.

Below is Today’s Daily Update, which reflects only the changes from yesterday’s information as it relates to the COVID-19 virus and Waveny’s patients, residents, and caregiver status.
