Waveny LifeCare Network COVID-19 Daily Update
for Residents, Patients, and Families

In the midst of the rapidly evolving coronavirus situation, we continue to implement COVID -19 guidelines from the CDC, Connecticut’s Department of Public Health (DPH), along with stringent clinical protocols to maximize our patients’ and residents’ safety and care.

We are equally committed to being as responsive as possible to the changing needs and concerns of our families, as the unfolding pandemic presents us with protean challenges. Thank you for your ongoing understanding and support, our community is stronger because of your engagement.

Aggregate data can be found at: waveny.org/daily-statistics

Our ongoing daily monitoring of employee’s well-being is vitally important. We are pleased to continue welcoming back employees who previously tested positive for the virus and are asymptomatic. A total of 16 staff members (5 just recently) have been medically cleared to return to work by their physicians.

Our preventive measures include sending any employee home to await test results if they show symptoms of any illness, mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment by staff across the Waveny LifeCare Network, current daily screening protocols of all employees as they report to work, and integration of new technology like the pulse oximeter device discussed in yesterday’s Daily Update. In addition, we will continue to evaluate new, qualified measurement tools as they become available to expand our screening capabilities.

The Village
There were no changes in the status of Village residents.

Care Center
One Care Center resident who was hospitalized for COVID-19 related symptoms has returned to Waveny for rehabilitation, and is resting comfortably. Sadly, one patient who was hospitalized passed away there overnight - our most heartfelt condolences and prayers are with their family during this most difficult time. Seven patients who were symptomatic tested positive for the virus and have been in isolation.

The Inn
The Inn continues to have no positive cases of COVID-19.

Waveny Home Care

Please continue to keep each other in your thoughts and prayers, and know that every day, we are working as diligently as possible to earn your continued patience and support. Our community is most grateful.

Your nursing supervisor will have specific medical details on your family member. Please continue to reach out to them on clinical issues and to me on non-clinical issues. We will continue to provide consistent written communications during this pandemic, and we honor your ongoing care, support and understanding.
