Waveny LifeCare Network COVID-19 Daily Update
for Residents, Patients, and Families

Though the COVID-19 pandemic has affected each of us, we realize our Residents, Patients and families may face some of the greatest potential challenges, if not physically, then due to the increased uncertainty the outbreak has caused.

Regardless of future challenges, we remain deeply committed to acting in the best safety interests of our seniors, and in compliance with federal, local and Medical Director clinical directives. We thank you for your ongoing trust and support.

To promote clinical best practices, we have increased targeted diagnostic COVID-19 testing of Patients and Residents to improve our continuity of care and recovery support. As more tests become available, we will scale these efforts accordingly and keep you well informed as we receive results.

We appreciate the importance of ongoing testing given the clinical profile of our seniors. As epidemiological research shows, older adults with co-morbidities like diabetes, heart, or respiratory dysfunction tend to be at higher risk for developing more serious COVID-19 complications.

Comments:

The pandemic poses a threat to our peace of mind and sense of security. As an organization, we are making our absolute best efforts to implement the most stringent care and preventive measures to return us to normalcy. We know this places an extraordinary burden on our families and community, and are committed to work closely with clinical partners and medical authorities to overcome this challenge.

For our patients and residents that are in end-of-life care in our long-term care divisions, even through this pandemic, we will continue the practice under strict isolation of allowing their immediate family to visit and will continue to honor these practices and their family through that difficult period.

We are diligently committed to providing transparent written communications and greatly appreciate your ongoing support and feedback.

Your nursing supervisor will have specific medical details on your family member. Please continue to reach out to them on clinical issues and to me on non-clinical issues. Please continue to keep each other and our community in your thoughts and prayers.
