Waveny LifeCare Network COVID-19 Daily Update
for Residents, Patients, and Families

Only one patient or resident in our entire network tests PCR positive for COVID-19. One client continues to test PCR positive despite receiving a high IgG blood serum antibody test result. We will continue to follow the appropriate guidelines and protocols and continual physician tracking. Similarly, all new Care Center admissions from the hospital are being quarantined for a period of 14 days as well.

While we are diligently protective of our Patients and Residents, we will also continue to honor any Skype, Facetime, or video chat requests, along with scheduled through-window meetings so our clients are continuously engaged and inspired by you. We greatly appreciate your continued understanding, feedback, support and donations that have allowed us to deliver the best continuity of care experience  to our Residents and Patients.

We ask for your forethought and consideration in scheduling such a communication. Our Director of Therapeutic Recreation – Jean Gleeson (phone: 203-594-5344 or email: jgleeson@waveny.org) can pre-schedule and implement with early notification any of these forms of communication to meet everyone’s needs but in a safe and secure manner.

Hotspots in Fairfield County remain as do other skilled nursing and assisted living facilities' reporting of continued novel viral cases. News reports about COVID-19 are rapidly changing against the backdrop of reopening economies, recovering communities, and though it may seem premature – the potential for a second wave of contagion this Fall.

It’s understandable to feel concerned about what the future may hold, but we want to reassure our families that Waveny is continuing to apply strict preventive care, testing, monitoring and control procedures to keep our Patients and Residents exceptionally safe, recovered and engaged, regardless of how the pandemic may or may not evolve over time.

Resident and staff testing continues, individualized care plans remain fully operational, optimized cohorting and dedicated staff assignments continue and we are relentlessly focused on doing our part to protect those assigned to our care. Aside from no new COVID Patient nor Resident case being identified in several weeks and only one case still testing positive, we will continue to closely monitor and retest as appropriate to ensure our clients’ full recovery and recuperation.

Your nursing supervisor will have specific medical details on your family member. Please continue to reach out to them on clinical issues, and to me on non-clinical issues or questions.
