Waveny LifeCare Network COVID-19 Daily Update
for Residents, Patients, and Families
Clearly our lives have been greatly impacted by the coronavirus. As our shared enemy, we will win our fight to protect our community armed with the clinical knowledge provided by federal and state health authorities, ongoing collaboration with our local clinical partners, and firsthand observational data from our Patients and Residents under our Medical Director’s guidance.
An example of our proactive community support is our Home Care Division’s clinical interventions (see below updates). We will continue to assist local hospitals and healthcare providers in the home recuperation of their patients and residents to help return our local community to normalcy. Whether these patients originated from the community or directly from the hospital, our team will be integral to promoting their best outcomes.
Continued testing will assure a safer future. Underpinning our preventive and care measures are our expanded testing regimens and stringent clinical interventions. On Wednesday we begin nasopharyngeal swab (PCR) testing of our entire asymptomatic Employee base, as an adjunct to Patient and Resident IgG serologic antibody and PCR testing, which has shown significant promise to increase conversions of positive to negative test results.
Our recovery is not likely to be V shaped or U shaped. It is more likely to be a W, with periods of increased normalcy and productivity stymied by an isolated outbreak. As one of our region’s few Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Five Star healthcare providers, we will be testing and retesting, and monitoring our Waveny LifeCare Network “health economy” on a daily basis.
With no new cases reported in sometime and patients recuperating each and every day, it is with your continued support and understanding that we can together create a sustainable solution to elevate our Patients and Residents.

Comments:
We continue to collaborate with local hospitals, public health authorities, clinicians and other key stakeholders to protect our Patients and Residents, both on our campus and by leveraging Waveny Home Care resource teams in our community.
We will increase our testing efforts and intensify individual care delivery to promote our Residents’ and Patients’ best outcomes. We greatly appreciate our families remaining in close communication and their continued engagement with us.
Your nursing supervisor will have specific medical details on your family member. Please continue to reach out to them on clinical issues, and to me on non-clinical issues or questions.
