Waveny LifeCare Network COVID-19 Daily Update
for Residents, Patients, and Families

To accelerate our workplace and community being free from COVID-19, (beyond enforcing strict daily Employee infection control practices like vital sign screening, social distancing, diligent handwashing, and other measures), today we began initial nasopharyngeal swab (PCR) testing of our entire asymptomatic direct and indirect care Employee base.

As one of our region’s few Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Five Star healthcare providers, and to maximize protection of our Patients and Residents, it is our business and clinical necessity to exceed CDC’s and DPH’s testing guidelines that only symptomatic staff be tested to diligently mitigate viral risk.

Independent lab technicians tested over 160 of our staff members today with an eye toward continued employee testing next week in tandem with continued robust Patient and Resident PCR retesting across our client base.  Under the direction of our Medical Director and informed by the latest clinical research, we will continue to pair proactive nasopharyngeal retesting with targeted integration of IgG serologic antibody tests to improve our diagnostic and care interventions.

While no new positive cases have been reported in some time and with more Patient and Resident test results converting from positive to negative, we continue to relentlessly measure, monitor, adjust and control our clinical best practices to minimize COVID-19 exposure risk in our community.

Comments:

Our leadership team continues to closely coordinate clinical and policy operations with local leaders, local hospitals, and other key stakeholders in the region working to stay abreast of and apply the most prudent, proactive best practices. We greatly appreciate the tremendous cooperation being displayed by all parties, and especially our families, to keep the health and safety of our Residents, Patients and Caregivers and Employees, as well as the general public our collective top priority.

Your nursing supervisor will have specific medical details on your family member. Please continue to reach out to them on clinical issues, and to me on non-clinical issues or questions.
