Waveny LifeCare Network COVID-19 Daily Update
for Residents, Patients, and Families

We continue to deploy COVID -19 testing across our Patient and Resident base to promote the accurate assessment, wellness and recuperation of our Patients and Residents, reduce potential virus transmissibility and clinical risk, and help return our community to a state of normalcy.

Consistent, meticulous testing and re-testing improves preventive and diagnostic interventions. According to the CDC, within a given community, at least 25% of people that are infected actually remain asymptomatic, so testing for that segment is critical to improve clinical transparency and assign the most effective care resources.

For Patients and Residents that have tested positive, we will be communicating our clinical plan to hopefully accelerate our patients’ ability to continue their recuperation, given the existence of underlying co-morbidities that made them disproportionately more vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus in the first place.

WHO (World Health Organization) epidemiologists have advised that with respect to virus incubation, the time between exposure to COVID-19 and the moment when symptoms start is commonly around five to six days but can range from one – fourteen days. In seniors, observationally in a clinical setting, these timeframes can vary widely, often in excess of the stated timeframes.

We at Waveny are sensitive to the often wider incubation band’s impact on our ability to deliver the highest possible continuity of care in what could be a more uncertain timeframe than researchers previously thought.

Given this, and what could be our Patient’s and Residents’ compromised immunity, our top priority is to continue to vigorously protect our clients’ safety and recovery through implementing thoroughly qualified testing, preventive care, hygiene and staff screening regimens. Our leadership has committed to making necessary investments in this added testing capability because we believe it is in our clients’ best health interests.

Comments:

We continue to take maximum preventive measures for best possible Patient and Resident outcomes, including disallowing non-essential visitors, screening staff prior to each shift, sending any employee home to await test results if they show any symptoms of illness, and mandating Personal Protective Equipment by staff while at work.

We are in close collaboration with local hospitals, public health authorities, clinicians and other key stakeholders during this challenging period, and will continue to provide daily written communications during this pandemic to keep our families fully informed and as engaged as possible.

Our leadership team greatly appreciates your tremendous support and understanding. We remain thoroughly committed to protecting the health and safety of our Residents, Patients and Caregivers.

Know that every day, we are working as diligently as possible to earn your continued support, and uplift our Patients’ and Residents’ wellbeing.

Your nursing supervisor will have specific medical details on your family member. Please continue to reach out to them on clinical issues, and to me on non-clinical issues or questions.
