Waveny LifeCare Network COVID-19 Daily Update

for Residents, Patients, and Families

Our continued timely and transparent reporting to our families is paramount. It is also a critical aspect of our collaboration and compliance with federal, state, and local health authorities.

With regard to Waveny LifeCare Network’s reporting requirements with Connecticut Department of Health (DPH), we submit a COVID-19 Case Report Form (CRF) identifying Residents, Patients and staff with positive laboratory test results. If an individual tests positive multiple times, a new CRF must be submitted for any positive test administered greater than 30 days since the last positive test.

As a Medicare facility, we also comply with The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) COVID-19 reporting requirements by submitting data to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC). These reports cover include information on suspected and confirmed COVID-19 Patients, Residents and staff, PPE, hygiene supplies and protocols, clinical preparedness and - consistent with these Waveny Daily Updates - Resident, Patient and family notifications.

As the COVID -19 crisis continues to unfold, to ensure proper clinical oversight and implementation, we are likely to have increased reporting requirements from multiple authorities through designated channels.

That said, our top priority is to closely comply with these directives, and to the best of our ability, exceed our families’ expectation as to timely and responsive reporting on their loved one’s wellbeing & clinical outlook, and our part in strongly supporting their safety and recovery.

Consistent with our previously mentioned commitment to scale qualified testing protocols, today we are conducting PCR (nasopharyngeal swab) retests for 12 patients who previously tested positive.

We will also begin serum IgG testing on our first two Residents within the next couple of days (blood serum antibody measurements).
