Waveny LifeCare Network COVID-19 Daily Update

for Residents, Patients, and Families

As you’ve learned over the past few days, there is no shortage of technical terms when it comes to describing our efforts during this COVID-19 crisis. As we head into another weekend, I wanted to bring it back to one simple fact: Our Waveny team is doing everything possible to deliver the compassionate, conscientious, patient-centered care that has been the core of our mission since our founding.

This means we are redoubling our efforts in all areas – from prevention, to detection, monitoring and healing. Along with the rest of the healthcare world, we are learning more about the characteristics of COVID-19 each day, and how it may impact the well-being of our Residents and Patients.

Our ability to continuously learn and help counteract the virus hinges on our ability to access and monitor data. That data is provided by testing. And rather than simply relying on test data of others, we are working with area Healthcare leaders to build and refine our own set of test data to optimize our decision-making, and improve clinical outcomes as the pandemic unfolds.

Thus your Waveny Leadership team is focused on having Waveny become one of the first institutions to implement comprehensive testing on our entire population – including patients, residents and employees.

We will continue to keep you updated, but want you to know that our team is diligently working on establishing leading edge protocols around testing and clinical support to continue delivering the very best personalized care that each patient and resident deserves. This is an investment that is worthy of our full commitment and resource allocation.

Waveny’s aggregate data can be found at: waveny.org/daily-statistics

The Village
There are no status changes to report for our Residents, they continue to rest comfortably under continued close observation.

Care Center

Four patients who previously tested positive for the virus received negative test results. Sadly, one COVID-19 positive hospice patient passed away last night after battling the disease. Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to their family during this extraordinarily difficult time.

Comments:

The impact of the coronavirus is unprecedented in our organization and community. Each day we are making our absolute best efforts to take the utmost precautionary care and safety measures to return us to normalcy. We recognize the extraordinary burden this places on our families, deeply appreciate your continued support and shared commitment to overcome this challenge.

Our clinical, operational and executive teams will continue to collaborate closely with local hospitals, public health authorities, clinicians and other key stakeholders to protect our Patients and Residents.

Your nursing supervisor will have specific medical details on your family member. Please continue to reach out to them on clinical issues, and to me on non-clinical issues or questions.
